A contact's **Next action** is their open task that is due soonest, shown on their contact page and in the contact preview, so you can see the next step at a glance.

## How it is picked

- The open task with the earliest due date comes first.
- Between tasks due the same day, the higher priority wins.
- Tasks with no due date come after every dated task.

When they have no open tasks, it says "No next action".

## Set, change or finish it

On the contact's page:

- **Add** or **Set one** opens **Add a next action**. See [Add a task](/tasks-and-reminders/add-a-task).
- **Edit** opens **Edit next action**. Its reminder starts empty, so set it again if the task had one.
- The round button (**Mark done**) finishes it. If it was their last open task, Relivo opens **Add a next action** for the next one.

In the contact preview:

- The round button finishes it.
- **Set one** opens **Log it, then set the next step**, where you can log what happened and add the next step together.
- **Edit** opens the full contact page.

:::tip
Every task you add for someone shows on their **Tasks** tab. The **Next action** is only the first of them.
