**Setting up** means Relivo is still indexing your mailbox's folders. A large mailbox takes longer, and you can leave the page while it works.

Only **Other provider (IMAP / SMTP)** mailboxes go through this step. Gmail and **Outlook / Microsoft 365** are ready as soon as they connect.

## While it says Setting up

- Sending from Relivo waits. If you try, you see "Your mailbox is still being set up", and the email isn't sent. Send it again once the badge changes.
- Replies aren't synced yet.
- **Settings** > **Email** checks again every 30 seconds while it's open, and the badge changes to **Two-way sync** by itself when indexing finishes. You can also reload the page.

## If it doesn't change

The same badge shows when Relivo can't reach the mailbox at all, for example because the app password was revoked or mistyped. If a small mailbox is still on **Setting up** after several hours, connect it again:

1. **Disconnect**

    In **Settings** > **Email**, click **Disconnect** next to the mailbox.

2. **Make a new app password**

    Create a fresh app password with your email provider. See [Create a Google app password](/email-and-inbox/create-a-google-app-password) or [Create an app password for Outlook, Yahoo or Zoho](/email-and-inbox/create-an-app-password-for-outlook-yahoo-or-zoho).

3. **Connect again**

    Under **Other provider (IMAP / SMTP)**, click **Set up**, then **Continue to connect**, and sign in with your address and the new app password.

Relivo skips email it has already logged, so connecting again doesn't add copies to your timelines.

:::tip
On an Outlook or Microsoft 365 address, use **Outlook / Microsoft 365** instead. You sign in with Microsoft, it needs no app password, and there is no indexing wait.
:::

If it is still stuck after connecting again, [contact support](/contact) with the email provider you use.
